چکیده

DIME is a programming environment for manipulation of irregular triangular meshes with a distributed memory machine. We have added a software layer DIMEFEM which manipulates Finite Element representations of functions and allows the stating and solving of variational statements. An application of DIMEFEM is an incompressible Navier-Stokes solver with a three-stage implicit time step, using quasi-optimally preconditioned conjugate gradient for the Stokes solver and Newtons’ method in the space of quadratic Lagrangian elements for the nonlinear solver. The codes run on NCUBE hypercubes and transputer machines. *Concurrent Supercomputing Facility California Institute of Technology Pasadena, CA 91125 USA C3P 715 February 1989 **Mathematics Department University of Houston Houston, TX 77004 USA

Study on Delaunay tessellations of 1-irregular cuboids for 3D mixed element meshes

Mixed elements meshes based on the modified octree approach contain several co-spherical point configurations. While generating Delaunay tessellations to be used together with the finite volume method, it is not necessary to partition them into tetrahedra; co-spherical elements can be used as final elements. This paper presents a study of all co-spherical elements that appear while tessellating...

A Block-Based Parallel Adaptive Scheme for Solving the 4D Vlasov Equation

We present a parallel algorithm for solving the 4D Vlasov equation. Our algorithm is designed for distributed memory architectures. It uses an adaptive numerical method which reduces computational cost. This adaptive method is a semi-Lagrangian scheme based on hierarchical finite elements. It involves a local interpolation operator. Our algorithm handles both irregular data dependencies and the...

PIT: A Library for the Parallelization of Irregular Problems

A problem is irregular if its solution requires the computation of some properties for each of a set of elements irregularly distributed in a domain of interest. These problems satisfy a locality property because the properties of an element depend upon those of a few other elements, its neighbors, according to a dynamic, problem dependent stencil. The development of parallel algorithms for irr...

Supporting Irregular Distributions Using S DatacParallel Languages

12 0 n distributed-memory machines, large data arrays need to be partitioned between local processor memories. These partitioned data arrays are called distributed arrays. Many applications can be efficiently implemented by using simple schemes for mapping distributed arrays. One such scheme is BLOCK distribution, which divides an array into contiguous, equal-sized subarrays and assigns each su...

Comparison of different 2 order formulations for the solution of the 2D groundwater flow problem over irregular triangular meshes

Mixed and Mixed Hybrid Finite Elements (MHFE) methods have been widely used in the last decade for simulation of groundwater flow problem, petroleum reservoir problems, potential flow problems, etc. The main advantage of these methods is that, unlike the classical Galerkin approach, they guarantee local and global mass balance, as well the flux continuity between inter-element sides. The simple...
